Sounds like Direct Instruction to me...
By "Ms. Nelson"

Clip to ScrapBook
Have any of you taught DI before? It's the exact same concept -- teach from a script, complete your pacing guide, snap your fingers on cue (to get immediate/timed responses from your pupils). There is definitely something
warped about this -- however, the school that I use to teach at utilized this program for years -- and some of the tenured/20+ years teachers were strong advocates of it. I think it hinders the teacher, by stunting his/her creativity to tailor, custom-made lessons for their class. The advantage to it is that it ensures that ALL of the students are receiving the EXACT same instruction
on every level -- and those teachers who weren't cut out to be teachers -- succeed. Because who need imagination? a college education in the field? We are just vessels for instruction -- like puppets -- performing for the little kiddies.
