Here it's the specials!

Clip to ScrapBook
We have some of the same things here at my school except it also includes speech therapists, GT teachers, and related arts teachers. These folks are certified, getting paid on the same salary scale I am. However, they do
not have the level of responsibility that regular classroom teachers have--No permanent records, report cards, conferences, lunch duty. They walk out everyday 3 with only a purse in hand while I'm leaving past 4 with a bag full of work to take care of at home.

It angers me that while I am patrolling the cafeteria for lunch duty, they are sitting across the hall in a workroom having

a high old time. Our office staff orders lunch out nearly every day. We have 1 day a month that we can order out. How is that fair? Our principal is so big on the team idea--I can' see how that promotes unity.

I'm sorry to know that you're dealing with this too. The big reward is that we really get to know the children and impact their lives. A cafeteria worker or custodian can't say that!
