cards work
By LC

Clip to ScrapBook
I subbed part time in college for a few years and then fulltime after I graduated before getting my teaching job this year. I found that in districts where there was an automated subfinder calling system, the best thing
to do was leave a business card on the teacher's desk. Not only would that teacher use my sub number to call me again but she often reccommended another teacher with a planned absence call for me. If you feel kinda weird leaving out a card, I started by having a computer printed sub report form that included my first and last name and sub number. At the bottom, even though no one ever
called me, I put that if they had any questions or comments, they could call me at ***-****. No one ever called regarding how the day went, but several called to set up subbing with me outside of the automated system for future dates before putting me into the system. Also, oftentimes, teachers dont know the subs names when they are in other classrooms, just their faces. I"m not suggesting that you post a photo of yourself hehe but by putting your name out there by handing cards to teachers that are actually friendly or posting something in the lunchroom while teachers are there, they will know who you are when they see your name for a possible sub.
