Pumpkin ideas
By Petunia

Clip to ScrapBook
Buddy with sixth grade and carve pumpkins. Guess number of seeds in the pumpkin, carve it, estimate the number of seeds and count the number of seeds together. Make graphs. Weigh and measurer the pumpkin. Who has the
tallest, shortest, biggest around, smallest around, biggest, tiny, roughest skin, smoothest and etc? Put a candle in a pumpkin and roast marshmallows, over the candle flame. Roast the seeds and eat. Make thin slices of raw pumpkin to taste. If you don’t want to carve pumpkins, make a face with magic markers. Or write your spelling words on your pumpkin. Cut about one inch squares of
orange tissue paper or any orange paper and make a collage pumpkin. Students cover their pumpkin shape paper with orange pieces of paper or cover a paper plate with orange pieces of paper. Hand the pumpkins from the ceiling. If you have high ceilings attach a string to the ceiling and cut off where you want the pumpkins to hang. Attach a paper clip to the string and when you want to change---take off the pumpkin and add your next art piece.
