Geo Booklets

I always start the year off by making a geography booklet. I got the idea from a resource book about teaching the themes of geogroaphy. I give the students a list of about 20 terms with definitions and names of real world examples. For instance, archepelago- a group of many islands, Ex. Hawaii, Indonesia. They choose 10 words from the list and make booklets. For each term, they are required to giv eth definition, a sentence using the word in a meaningful way, a picture of the term, and a map section showing the term. They put a lot of effort into this and they turn out neat. By the end of the project, they know their words.
