round robin reading
By Lori

Clip to ScrapBook
Several things...Sometimes I read a sentence or paragraph and students are encouraged to use same expression as me(student partners also do this later). We re-read sections to find answers to a question(prove-it). In small groups, everyone reads aloud...not chorally but at their own speed. Then I focus in on one student at a time and help them use their reading strategies. Sometimes we chorally read in different voices(low, high-pitched, southern, underwater, whatever I can think of). The main thing is to have individual students engaged in the reading themselves as often as possible.
