Morning Message
By Em

Clip to ScrapBook
I love the morning message, the way I do it is to have one message for the whole week for Kindergarten. I have a blank for the day and cards and have a child pick the day that fits- (ie. today is Friday can you find the
card that says Friday- what letter would it start with?). I keep it short 2 or 3 sentences tops. I leave out letters to be filled in (sight words later in the year)which we do on Monday- our first reading, Tuesday I may get children to come up and circle the letter we are working on that week after reading it, Wednesday we may count the words and choose a few to clap the syllables. Thursday
we may pick a word and think up rhyming words for it ect... We can do so much with the message but I want to keep each session short so doing it all week always for both, it also helps the children to be able to read it and develop fluency reading it, they love to use my pointer and read it on their own time, later in the week when they know what it says- it really makes them feel like readers and gives them confidence.
