sight words
By Lisa

Clip to ScrapBook
I am a kindergarten teacher who is also required to teach sight words. I give my students four to five "words of the week" which are also found in reproducible little books which I have ready for them. I put the words on
flash cards and we play games with them in shared reading time. I post them on a word wall. I put them on a homework writing sheet and ask them to write them one time each and read them to a parent. You would be surprised how many students have picked up on these words! For the students who are having difficulty, I will slow down the pace and continue to work with a few words at a
time during guided reading time.
Another note -- a GREAT website to visit is www.starfall.com This website (if you have a computer in your room) has little books that your student can ask the computer to sound out the words for! This website is great for grades K-1 or even 2.
