All About the Ears
By Bonnie

Clip to ScrapBook
Stephanie,

Here's a tip that I picked up from a friend who was a gymnastics coach for years (I found it effective when I was working with young age groups):

If the kids were getting too loud with chatter, I found that
if I said "Show me your ears" while demonstrating to them that I was holding both of my ears in their direction, they would stop talking and hold both of their ears while facing me. If need be, I would tell them that I needed them to be quiet and show me that they were using both of their ears to listen to what I was going to say to them. So far, it's been a good classroom management
technique - even with 6th graders!!!

Of course, what works for one teacher/classroom may not be as effective with others - it's worth a shot.

Take Care,
Bonnie
