Is there any way you can separate their free time and catch-up time more? For example, can free time be earlier in the day? It always takes kids a while to calm down from any type of recess. I have my recess late in the morning, and then they get water and come inside for silent reading. Then I leave the last fifteen minutes for homework, catch-up, etc.
