Yes! It is very overwhelming!! I just moved to a school that has been using HM for several years and they still can't seem to get everything done either. One thing that does help is that we use an 8 day schedule instead
of 5. That way if something comes up like library, computer lab, or what ever- then you are not in such a panic about your schedule.
Another tip someone gave me is to photo copy the 5 day scedule (shrink it down) and use it as a check off list as you complete each skill. Then you know where to focus your attention for the next day.
Wish I could help you on big group/small
group but I too could use some pointers on this. We do platoon for Universal Access, so all kids are in their level for that time at least. I have yet to establish small reading group on a daily basis yet.
If you have any information on web sites that show bulletin board ideas, or how we should have our "focus" wall- I'd appreciate it.
Good luck, just know you get in what you can, especially the items that have the red check next to it- those are skills needed in order to take the theme tests.
