mixtures
By KT

Clip to ScrapBook
I usually do a demo of four different types of mixtures. The first is a mixture that can be separated physically, like nuts and bolts, or even salt and pepper. Then I show a suspension -- like oil and water or vinegar and water. Then I show a colloid, like milk. I shine a flashlight through it to show the Tyndall effect. Then I show Kool-Aid as an example of a solution. Not too exciting, but it gives the students a visual reference for each type of mixture.
