GC is right , I have a really bad whinner in my class this year, although his whinning often turns into crying, I ignore the whinning and crying completly- if he trys to talk to me I tell him to come back when he can talk like a big boy, then nothing more complete ignore until it stops- each time it works eventually, this will take time because chances are that at home this is what works for them, good luck, because it can drive you nuts ( my whinner was out yesterday and it made such a big difference)
