Reading
By Brooke S.

Clip to ScrapBook
The reason that it is said that Round Robin Reading is not as good is because students are not actually reading the entire text. I alternate between having my students partner read and silent read. This is done in my small
group instruction time. I do a prereading activity and then we read. I have partners sit on the floor around my reading table.(this is to spread them out some) and then I alternate between partners so I can listen to every child read. I have a clipboard that has labels on it. I write notes about the child's reading and then stick it in a notebook page that has the child's name on
it. This way I can track the progress of the child and I have it for parent conferences. The other way I have them read is silently reading. I also spread them out for this. I go around and tap the child on the shoulder and they whisper read to me. I also take notes as they read. Have you ever seen the telephones made from PVC pipe. These are helpful for whisper reading. The students can heare their voices clearly as they read, but they are not reading very loudly. If you have any questions, let me know.
