why not skip a grade? By Lana

Pam, I notice you always advise against skipping a grade. If the school will not provide challenging material for a bored child who isn't learning anything new, isn't that worse than letting them socialize with children who are a year older, especially if the child is mature for his age? I have never got a satisfactory response when requesting that my child be challenged... the public school system can't seem to provide it. Teachers have limited options, since they must cater to the below average to average students (I've been told).
