science and social studies

My school system is on a a 9 week system (four per year). What I've done is taught a whole science unit, then moved on to a whole social studies unit. I covered as much as I could during the year of concepts I thought were important. What I knew I couldn't cover, I sent home as a project, report, and/or homework.Hope this helps.
