I also have 2 students with no letter/sound recoginition while 3 are reading at a high 2nd grade level. Makes it hard. This is my first year teaching (and I'm SO happy it's only 13 kids!), so I am having trouble jumping into centers, but I am slowly. I think everyone expects so much because there is only 13, but I'll be happy if my lowest kids are on grade level the last day of school! The ideas above are great!
