You might also want to take a look at a product called SPELL (Spelling performance evaluation for Language Literacy) produced by a company called Learning By Design (Learningbydesign.com). They offer a prescriptive assesment tool that tells you why the student is mispelling words. It's worked for my students. Plus, they offer a free demo CD. Hope that helps.
