Cup System

I purchase two plastic cups to use as restroom passes each year. One color is for the boys and the other for the girls. I train my students in the bathroom procedures and explain to them that if they abuse the Cup System,
then they will lose the privilege. Basically, if I'm not doing Direct Instruction, Reading Aloud, or giving important information that they need to hear, then they may get up and get the appropriate colored cup and place it on top of their desk. This allows only one person at a time to be out of the room. This also allows me to quickly note where the missing student is very easily. This

eliminates them interrupting small group instruction. The other students become great "tattletales" and will let me know when someone is abusing the system. So far, it has worked out great.
