Free Choice Time

I teach half day kindergarten (our day is almost three hours long). The children have free choice time for the first 30 minutes. I use that time to greet students, empty folders, and write responses to any notes from parents. The children are engaged, practicing social skills, and making a transition from home to school. They are rewarded with additional free choice time when time permits (which can be at the end of the day). They love the sand table and blocks.
