Clip to ScrapBook
My instructor reccomends the grandmother approach - Work now Play later, Maybe have a routine of putting on the board all that needs to be done that period. Let the students know the sooner they get it done the more free time they may have at the end to converse or whatever. Also show them how distractions take up time. Like "okay you took 1 minute away from my time to teach so I am taking one minute away from your time to be outside." Have a clock with a second hand so they see "one minute" pass. *When watching a clock, a minute takes forever to go by.
Also talk to teachers that have been in your position and get their suggestions- the old ways may be used but they are still usable.
