Sub teaching
By DP

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Mike,
I have been subbing for about 4 1/2 years now. In the state of Michigan, a substitute teacher only needs to have 90 college credit hours, unless they changed it since I started.
While some subs can get a lot
of days, I wouldn't recommend it as a career. It is usually very part time and doesn't pay much in most areas. But if you have another part time job or are earning a second income, like I am, it can work out okay.
At the district I am in, Northern Michigan, I started out at $60.00 a day and after 4+ years am now making $80.00 a day.
Now, I didn't mention the kids at all. You really
have to like kids and not take yourself too seriously. It can be a fun job if you let it.
Sorry, I don't think I helped too much. Good luck with your future!
Oh...one more thing...if you are thinking of going in to teaching I would recommend subbing first to feel it out.
