Clip to ScrapBook
I don't know if we'll hear from Brooke for a while. According to our paper today, 430,000 homes and businesses in the rural region are without power and are not expected to regain power for over a week at the earliest. Because
of the fact that much of the Panhandle is low-lying and many roadways have been washed out, emergency officials are having a hard time reaching many areas to look for dead or injured. The pictures of the distruction seem worse than Charley or Frances. Waves apparently reached heights of 2 1/2 stories, which washed out many beachfront buildings.
My school in North Florida (the Panhandle
is our neighbor) is starting another school supply drive for those children and teachers who have lost everything. I encourage others to help where they can. Obviously, continue to send positive thoughts her way. From the looks of the destruction, she and all in the Florida Panhandle need them.
