Hmmm ... By Kerry

Well, I think 20 minutes per NIGHT is a little bit too much for a 2nd grader, especially THIS early in the year. They work so hard already during the day. But since your school obviously requires this, what I would do is| give your student a little time in class (not recess) to complete half, knowing it probably won't get done at home in its entirety... then expect the rest of it to be done at home, while using incentives. Like a free night from homework with every 3 that come back in a row, then move it up to 5 in a row. Maybe that will work, especially if mom and student know you want to help and be | | supportive. Sharon, I'm more curious about why your senior in high school doesn't have homework every night ... THAT seems to be enabling your child to be unprepared for college where homework is a given and if you don't do it, you fail. As a senior in high school, or heck, as a sophomore, I had about 3 hours of homework per night ... you know, it was high school.
