I don't think you did anything wrong. Kids relate rewards to recent behavior, so many of them probably would have thought that they were being rewarded for their behavior at the end of the day.Also, I have found that kids get used to expecting treats on Fridays if you give them every week. Keep those treats for next week and give them on a random day next week when you think they've behaved themselves well all day.
