applesauce

Clip to ScrapBook
I knew if I came to this board I would find something quick for a project today. My recipe is this. Give each child an apple and have them wash it. Cut the apple into 4 chunks for them so they lie flat. Have the child cut the apple into smaller pieces and add them to a crockpot - peeling isn't necessary with this one. Try to use plastic knives. If that doesn't work for the child, use a butter knife. Add a bit of water to the pot and let it cook. When it is soft, I add sugar and cinnamon and strain the whole thing to get the seeds and skin out. This takes a long time to cook! Another recipe uses the apple corer/peeler gadget. Your apples need to be hard for that to work. You could add the rings to frozen pie dough and make pies as well. Yumm!
