criteria

Clip to ScrapBook
I give my kids criteria for what will make good work. This might be 2 or 3 things that we have settled on together at the start of the lesson, eg how will we know we have made a good poster - it will have a heading, a picture.....
my kids then have to check the list before they show me their work. they enjoy it because they got to have a say in the criteria. Also a stop/go sign is useful. have it turned to green when they are allowed to come and interrupt you, and red when they can't (except for urgent things). This is useful when you have reading groups. When I am taking reading groups my kids do reading
stations which they rotate around every 10 minutes (or book activities for more able kids). The stations are simple things like a listening post with headphones, reading games like word/letter snap, browsing boxes, making table, big books, computers, things like that.
