Clip to ScrapBook
I'm a "newish" sub; I have about a month's experience.

I always make sure to arrive early enough that I can go to the classroom and stash my stuff, figure out where things are, find and decipher the lesson plan, etc. It makes things a whole lot easier when you know what you're supposed to be doing.

With any luck, your first day will be with the little kids. They're easy - they WANT to please you, you just have to make it clear to them what you want them to do.

If you end up with older kids, just remember - you're the boss. Be firm, but fair. Don't let them intimidate you. Your job is to teach them, and their job is to learn.
