son in school
By Been there

Clip to ScrapBook
I think that you are on the heading to the right track. I do think that by consoling him and reading a book with him, he won that round. His tantrum got you to be alone with him.

I would ignore any bad or disruptive behavior completely and let his teacher handle it. Never give in to that behavior -- no matter how histerical he gets.

Eventually he will learn that that behavior is not going to work for him.

Do you always work with that kindergarten class? I would avoid that as much as possible until your son is used to his school setting and structure. He has probably seen other moms come in and work with their kids, and he doesn't understand why you aren't doing that when your classes are together. He just knows that his mom is there, too.
