popsicle stick words-another idea
By Jessica

Clip to ScrapBook
I love the other ideas on this post.
Here is another...

I work with 5 words a week. (first grade)
At the beginning of the year, I use magnetic letters on my board. I call students up to make a word wall word with
the letters.

The students like to do this. Here is the extension so everyone can do this to practice the words...

In the beginning of the year, I teach the kids how to write each letter on the top of a popsicle stick with a marker. They write all of the letters for the five words. Then the kids move the popsicle sticks around to make the words at their desk.

I model this on the board

with a set I make. On the back of each stick I put a piece of self-adhesive magnet.

After they make each word at their desk, they write the word on a half sheet of handwriting paper. My students have enjoyed this way of practicing their word wall words.
