HI! I have my AR books leveled in red and yellow buckets and each book is marked with either a red or yellow dot (I had a WONDERFUL parent who offered to help one year! ) I also have buckets of genre books (I have a bucket for scientific books, real animal books, social studies type books etc. When I expect students to be reading at their reading level, I only let them choose from the leveled readers, but during their free time, I allow them to read whatever they desire. (I have the genre books located throughout my room in a science center, social studies corner etc.) HTH michele
