I teach 5th and I am going to have the kids write themselves private letters that noone else will read unless they want them to. They can write their goals for the year, who their best friend is, who they have a crush on, etc. Then I am going to cut a piece of yarn that is the height of each kid. The letters will be rolled up like a scroll and the yarn will be tied around the letter. They will get this back on the last day of school. I think they will get a kick out of it when they get it back...especially to see how much they grew over the year!
