I Miss the "Real World"
By Joe

Clip to ScrapBook
As a second career teacher, I feel the same way. The Principal loves me and she's a decent principal, but I find some parts of the real world are definitely missed:

1. Being treated like a student does suck and it does
happen.

2. 20 minute lunches

3. Limited bathroom breaks

4. Dealing with 12 year olds all day instead of adults

5. Perks (We were thrilled when the teacher gave us all a 6 inch Subway sandwhich for lunch on our first day back. The night before I went with my Brother in Law to the ballgame on his insurance company's dime. It ran them about $1200.)

6. Being on all the time. In

other jobs when you have a bad day you can burry yourself in paperwork and not have to deal with people.

7. Bringing work home with me

8. Having to look busy. My old job was different than most, but as long as I got my work done and did it well nobody cared if I goofed off the rest of the day.

9. Phone calls - I don't get to call my friends and I can't even call the body shop if my car is in the shop

10. Health - Man those kids get you sick

Now, with all this said I do like teaching and I'm happy to do that, but we do miss certain things.
