I have the same morning ritual and used to do the same thing. It was always the same few students who spoke up and sometimes it lasted too long (and you don't want to leave anyone out of course). Last year, I decided to give the students some silent moments for personal and private intentions. We all paused together and thought about our intention and that seemed to work well.
