Reading Ideas
By Jaime

Clip to ScrapBook
I always think about teaching the high ability readers outwards rather then upwards. I work on studing differnet genres of books (chapter books-realistic fiction, historical fiction, science fiction, and fantasy) I also
do a lot with nonfiction since it can be more of a challange to read (informational and biographies). Author studies of memoires can be great (patrica pollaco, cynthia rylant). If you need ideas for books go onto scholatic's website and do some book searches for series that would work. If you need some specific series to use give a post back. I do all of this during my independent reading
block so all readers are reading just right books including the most gifted readers. I would also consider going deeper with reading comprehension skills because all readers can continue to grow in that area (I have some great teacher book recomendations if you need some). Hope this helps!

Jaime
