Loser by Jerry Spinelli is an excellent book--i loke to read it at the beginning of the year to make a point about how hurtful people can be to kids who are "different". The first 3-4 chapters lend themselves to some great dramatic reading--and since i have a theatre background, i play it up quite a bit--certainly gets their attention!
