I agree with your post and many of the K-2 teachers at my school feel the same way! I too feel the nonsense words are a waste of time and since I assess my students using other measures - this test is useless. We won't even get the percentile results until who knows when, since we turn our scores into the district office.In my masters program I just completed our professor was against the DIBLES program. I tried very nicely telling my principal the program was no good......but she was dead set on it and thought it was the greatest thing in the world! AUGH! I guess if I want to keep my job, I will just have to loose instruction time and give the test to my students.
