Union Response
By Samantha

Clip to ScrapBook
In my state Subs can't be in the union even if the sub for 40 years. Considering what union fees are it would be nearly impossible for most subs to afford the fees, based on their low pay and maybe only getting called 1 or 2 times a week or less. You would pay far more in fees than a paycheck (same with getting benefits). I know burntout teachers who do show videos and babysit and don't teach. I also worked as an EA for many years and got to see them do nothing. Just made me sick to see then act this way. But they know all the union regulations and how to find an attorney really quick when they need to. But most teachers do work hard. Some complain to much so I think subbing for 10 years first might have helped them appreciate their jobs more.
