Clip to ScrapBook
So now you have 21,right? Still a large class.Do you have a mentor teacher? Have the paraprofessionals been assigned yet? You should see if you can get some help a while each day. Designate a "Getting it Together" chair where
the disruptive child can sit to 'get it together' I let them rejoin the group when they feel they can act appropriately. If you introduce this early on and let kids know that sometimes they need to leave the group for a bit and even role play it so they know the right way to get up and 'regroup',it is easier to calmy let them know that you need them to go sit out. Try Try Try to be
very positive and notice everything good that the kids do. Be as even and calm as you can about the brief 'time outs'. But if you're new make sure you try to round up some help. Do it early on before you are all stressed out. Asking for help is smart. and your principal is supposed to be helping you.
