Out of curiosity - Why do they have to stay in ABC order? If it's because someone in administration said so - I would just always say 'yeah in their abc order' even if they weren't.

Some things that have helped my kindergarten
kiddos stay in line and walk quietly down the hall:
We pretend we are circus performers we walk quietly on a tightrope to where we need to go. They concentrate on a line down the hall, with their hands out to the side to balance themselves. I also did exercise walks. I would tell them I was going to try to trick them on our exercise walk. They have to be very quiet and watch
what I do and try to do the same movements. So they would walk down the hallway - put their arms up over their head - out to the side, on their head, etc.
I would also take out my invisible wand and touch them on the head and tell them I have just made them invisible. If they are quiet in the hallway, no one will be able to know they are there - I get one teacher to play along the first time and it works great!
