Since I have always done it this way I can't compare it, but I use the Jolly Phonics order it starts off s,a,t,p,i,n,c,k,e,h,m,r,d,g,o,b,u,f,v,j,w,z,y,x,q I think I have the order right, then I go on to blends such as ch, sh, th. I like this program because each sound has a picture card and an action to go with it, the children love the actions and it really helps them. The first set of letters it uses are ones that the children will encounter often in reading and writing and helps them to start writing earlier. The other thing I like that some teachers don't is that the vowels are mixed in, I usually tell the children this is a special letter called a vowel and we learn it and practice it, I find that the children who are ready will start to use it, then we always review all sounds throughout the year, so as children are ready they will use it, then for those who still aren't ready we do the vowels again at the end more intensively.
