Getting attention

I hate having to talk over students to get their attention so I stole this idea from a teacher I knew. When I need the students to listen to me I clap out a beat and they have to echo it bck to me. I may do this 2 - 3 times. I train my students when I clap they get quiet to hear my announcement or direction.
