jungle or sports By Susan

I did the jungle theme with 5th grade and it was pretty easy to do! You can also do a sports theme, since that's very popular with that age group. For a jungle: 1. Roll up brown paper to make vines, and hang them above your reading corner. Throw a few artificial flower vines across them. Put 2 animal print body pillows ($8. at Walmart) on a piece of carpet on the floor. You can also buy some big stuffed jungle animals at a thrift store (wash!) to set on top of the book shelves. 2. Put light brown fabric from the dollar table at Walmart on a small bulletin board. Use darker fabric or bulletin |
| board paper above it to make the "roof" of the hut. Write "Information Hut" on the roof. Use this to keep your calendar, lunch menu, notices, etc... 3. Buy a monkey notepad (at teacher stores) and put each child's name on it. Put brown and green bulletin board paper on your door (to look like a tree) and hang the monkeys from it. Above the door put "Swingin' into 5th grade". Just a few simple ideas!
