jungle or sports
By Susan

Clip to ScrapBook
I did the jungle theme with 5th grade and it was pretty easy to do! You can also do a sports theme, since that's very popular with that age group.
For a jungle:
1. Roll up brown paper to make vines, and hang them above
your reading corner. Throw a few artificial flower vines across them. Put 2 animal print body pillows ($8. at Walmart) on a piece of carpet on the floor. You can also buy some big stuffed jungle animals at a thrift store (wash!) to set on top of the book shelves.
2. Put light brown fabric from the dollar table at Walmart on a small bulletin board. Use darker fabric or bulletin
board paper above it to make the "roof" of the hut. Write "Information Hut" on the roof. Use this to keep your calendar, lunch menu, notices, etc...
3. Buy a monkey notepad (at teacher stores) and put each child's name on it. Put brown and green bulletin board paper on your door (to look like a tree) and hang the monkeys from it. Above the door put "Swingin' into 5th grade".

Just a few simple ideas!
