Clip to ScrapBook
I moved to Chicago from LA two years ago and it was hell to get a job. Everyone who said they'd help me didn't. I kept calling my "recruiter" who would never call me back. When I finally got a job, it was in an inner city
school and I had one day to set up before school started. To top it off, nobody could help me with tranferring my California credentials so I ended up working with no benefits and substitute pay at 70 dollars a day! I worked for four months at that rate and finally quit because when I asked for help (I kept getting sick with no insurance) at the CPS office they told me that I would
be better off working as a teachers aide. My principal panicked when I quit but there was nothing she could do because the people at CPS were not willing to help her.
I know that there are good schools but I was sickened by the treatment I got. I definitely think that their system needs improvement because they are losing good teachers.
