Arkansas Reading First

I've taught at a grant school for 2 years, I think each state sets the standard for what they expect. In Arkasas we follow the Arkansas Literacy Model, which shockingly, is the model many other states with the Reading First grants use. I would contact someone at the state level about what you should be doing. I do know that the "Put Reading First" books is based on a huge study conducted by the National Reading Panel. That the findings of the NRP, are the "backbone" for the Reading First grant system. In a nutshell the NRP, supports Balanced Literacy.
