Hiring Grid and Seniority By Michael
|
|
Hi !I just blooped into this by accident and read of the frustration with subs getting postings. I get the impression that there is little union support and an ill defined hiring protocol. I'm a TOC in Northern BC, Canada, | and we have a very clear and transparent seniority based hiring system. TOC's get seniority days just like regular teachers and a short term job gets posted for all. The only exeptions we've found are recall rights of laid-off teachers on contract. There is certainly no nepotism or favourtism allowed and our union is pretty strong on greiving perceived incidents. Certified TOC's | | have all the rights and responsibilities of classroom teachers and are represented on the union executive. What I read here on this string is why teachers, and especially TOC's, need strong, united, union support.
