A theme for all your bulletin boards and posters is not at all essential - really not. Just relax, go shopping and use your mentor teachers list. You have enough on your plate this close to start date, and you can think about a room theme some other time - if indeed you ever feel the need. Seasonal and holiday themes will give you lots to think about.

Each year I do give my class a "team" name, and I guess that does become kind of a theme. We've been the Rowdy Rabbits, the Friendly Frogs...you get the idea. Again, just for fun, not a necessity.
