A BEKA By Suzanne M.

I know how you feel. I was in your shoes last year being it my first year teaching the A Beka Advanced Kindergarten program at my small private school. I am the ONLY Kindergarten teacher there and had no one to mentor or| ask questions like do I need to follow the lesson plans exactly ... I decieded on my own what worked best for me and my class. It took me awhile to figure this out but I now am in my second year and things are going much better this year. I just use the lesson plans as a guide to what I need to introduce and what worksheets we should be working on, I use my own games and my own songs that | | are more up to date and that work best for my class. I teach the way you would teach any other lesson. I know you feel the parent feels as though they know more than you but remember that they were once in your shoes. Don't give up! I don't make much money either but honestly you won't make much teaching in a private school, you just have to love what you do and be thankful that you aren't in public schools dealing with a lot more issues. IT WILL GET BETTER! Just give it some time. How long have you been in school? What grade are you teaching? I will pray that things will get better for you and for your class, know that God is walking with you.
