routines
By Em

Clip to ScrapBook
Setting good routines is the easiest way to survivie the year. We have mail bags (ziplock bag for each child that goes to and from school) The children come in and put it into the basket, for you to go through when you have
time, I usually try to get them checked and packed and back into their cubby holes while the children eat lunch, then when they take their lunch bags to pack into in their bookbags they take thier mailbags too. I also give each child a number (not important for the child to know the number) I put it on their cubby hole, mailbag, all journals ect... To get there attention on the carpet
I say "Hands on your knees and no noise please", in the line I use the song posted above, when I want to talk to them while they are playing or working I put my hands on my head and start counting to 10, as they see me they do the same, I walk towards any child who doesn't do it- this makes them put what they are using down and listen. The first week will be crazy and exhausting, but it does get better.
