Guided reading
By sandra

Clip to ScrapBook
guided reading groups are made up of students on the same level. After you do a DRA you groups students according to their level. I do not put more than 5 in a group. Each group last for 15 minutes and i usally do 2 groups a day. The other student are on the computer, partner reading, making words, journal writing or what ever center you make. Guided reading is just one component of a balanced literacy program. You use the rest of the time in Writer's workshop, Word study, shared reading. Kid in first grade get bored if they are left in a center for too long. I also do not have help and have 22 students. I hope this helps.
